OMG! I think I just found my new PET PEEVE.

grrrrrrr....

So as a growing educator, I'm finding areas in my life where I feel more like a grown adult. When my principal came in for her observation and told me to take the phrase, "You guys" out of my vocabulary, I felt so juvenile and unprofessional. I literally had to start biting my tongue so it would not slip out while I was teaching.
"you guys!"

Now, as I sit here at home, sick and grading Personal Narratives from my 7th Grade Language Arts class, I am appalled that one of my students had the nerve to write this in her narrative:

"The next day we went to Universal Studios...Later on we went to Epcot. OMG this was the best amusement park that I've been to!"

Can someone please find what is aggravating me in this part of her essay??? Leave a comment, and you'll get kuddo points with Ms. C.

What the heck?!?!

did she really write OMG on her essay?! that is soooo unacceptable for an academic paper! i sometimes find it hard to even use such abbreviations in my own text messages to folks, which is why it takes me a while to respond to messages...

i get annoyed when my pinsans send me e-mails (not text messages) and they write in abbreviated slang. it drives me crazy because i can be such a grammar nazi too.
