it only took me a month to blog this, but i was finally convinced to buy jason mraz's CD all because of fr. mike. when derrick and i went up to seattle for carla & eric's wedding, we were able to go to st. ignatius for the 9 p.m. student mass. i think that was an important thing for me to do to put a small sense of closure to my campus min. experience. i've been so tied to that community that it continues to be a rough transition post-SU days and not being able to worship in the beautiful chapel. but when i saw the new community of SU students who gather every sunday evening, it put a sense of closure to my experience in the sense that life there goes on. it was nice to see that same love, community, atmosphere continuing in these coming generations.
i hope mia gets plugged in with it too.
anyhoo, the gospel that sunday was a parable from the gospel of matthew where the laborers are out in the field working for the same wage. in the end, Jesus teaches, "the first shall be last and the last shall be first." fr. mike explained that God sees us and accepts us for who we are without giving us special treatment, giving generously His love, His compassion, His mercy, His Everything. he went on to say that we must live a "mrazian spirituality" based on the song "live high." see for yourself:
"Oh my, the congregation in my mind
Is this assembly singing of gratitude
Practicing their lovin for you
Live High … the road you travel on,
Live Mighty … with an expansive heart,
Live Righteously … with compassion,
Taking it Easy … lovin one another …"

more wisdom for the week! i love it!
