since dad started working at his spot a year ago, he's gotten more computer saavy. props to daddy-o. but as a result, he's also become pro at sending mass emails with cheesy pictures, jokes, sentimental poems, prayers, etc. etc....
background story: last week was a difficult one. there are different ways to see it. but for the most part, i saw it through the eyes of defeat. i was given opportunities of humility, but i saw it as people fighting against me or bringing me down. when i was told to work on things, i took it personally. when i was told, "i'd get better," i felt like what i was doing already wasn't good enough (when i've been busting my ass and spending more time than i'm paid for on work --- not to mention i've recruited my RN sister to help me grade things since i'm sinking behind. but that's what being a teacher is, right? livin' it and givin' it for those kids you love...) when i received angry letters from parents, i felt attacked. it was a rough week with tears and crying through my prayers in the middle of the night.
but hey, i got through, right? with the prayers of family and good friends, i always get through.
.... on a side note, insight into a student's life can teach you a thing or two. but insight into a student's life that teaches you about your own life is another story.
as i listened to a parent discuss her concerns about her over-achieving son who cried because he just couldn't get his cursive and how hard he is on himself, i thought i was looking into a mirror...
i am my own worst enemy, my hardest critic.
.... but back to the reason why i blogged in the first place... dad sent me this mass email and it was something i needed last week. maybe someone out there needs it this week:
Tequila and Salt
1. There are at least two people in this world that you would die for.
2. At least 15 people in this world love you in some way.
3. The only reason anyone would ever hate you is because they want to be just like you.
4. A smile from you can bring happiness to anyone, even if they don't like you.
5. Every night, someone thinks about you before they go to sleep.
6. You mean the world to someone.
7. You are special and unique.
8. Someone that you don't even know exists loves you.
9. When you make the biggest mistake ever, something good comes from it.
10. When you think the world has turned its back on you take another look.
11. Always remember the compliments you received. Forget about the rude remarks.
...when life hands you lemons, ask for tequila and salt.
to those good friends, thanks for the prayers and constant encouragement. prayers and encouragement from me to you... i miss you.
